Our Story
At ArMi Farms, we believe that fresh, local ingredients are the heart of every memorable meal. Bound by family and a shared passion, the Arbuthnot and Miles families are connected not just by blood, but by a love for fresh, vibrant food and the joy of growing it from the ground up. Rooted in a commitment to healthy living and bold flavors, we take pride in cultivating quality ingredients that nourish body and soul.
The Arbuthnot Family: After 21 years of service in the US Marine Corps as an EOD Technician, James Arbuthnot retired in pursuit of a slower, more fulfilling way of life. Alongside his wife, Jessica, and their daughter, Camryn (affectionately known as Ryn), the Arbuthnot family has spent years moving between duty stations in North Carolina, Japan (mainland and Okinawa), and California. With every move, their love for gardening followed them—from small gardens and potted plants that had to be left behind at each new station to a dream of something bigger, something permanent.
Their time in Japan deepened their appreciation for fresh, locally sourced ingredients and mindful eating, and beautifully presented meals. More than anything, James and Jessica craved the stability of home—a place where they could plant roots, cultivate a large garden, and share their harvest with family, friends, and the community, inspired by their experiences abroad.
Now settled in Lexington, KY, the Arbuthnots are embracing their next chapter, turning their dreams into reality—growing, cooking, and savoring life’s simple joys.
The Miles Family:
Adam Miles and his wife Stephanie, along with their children Laila and Sawyer, have always strived to nourish their family with healthy, locally grown food. Adam, who works primarily at a desk, found joy and balance in cultivating his own herbs and vegetables at home. His love for gardening traces back to childhood memories of working on his grandparents' farm with his sister Jessica. Adam’s backyard harvests, combined with a deep desire to step away from screens and into nature, have fueled his commitment to sustainable, home-grown goodness.
Stephanie, whose upbringing was equally rooted in the cherished traditions of farm life, recalls fondly the days spent visiting family farms where knowing the origin of every meal was not just a luxury, but a way of life. As a self-described "foodie," she has traveled widely, immersing herself in diverse culinary traditions and exploring innovative flavors from around the globe. Her refined taste and passion for authentic, high-quality ingredients now infuse the family’s offerings with a sophisticated touch that celebrates both health and exceptional flavor.
From Family Roots to Fresh Harvests: Growing up, Adam and Jessica spent countless hours on their grandparents' farms, fostering a love for the land and the food it provides. Jessica’s flair for curating stunning charcuterie boards—a talent showcased beautifully at Adam and Stephanie’s wedding reception—added another flavorful dimension to their shared vision. James’s Southern roots from Baton Rouge brought a love for bold, spicy flavors, inspiring ArMi Farms’ Spice Kitchen blends.
Together, the Arbuthnot and Miles families have combined their experiences, skills, and love for fresh food to create ArMi Farms. We’re proud to offer freshly grown microgreens, hand-crafted Spice Kitchen blends made from our own herbs, and curated charcuterie kits designed to elevate any gathering. At ArMi Farms, every harvest tells a story—one of family, tradition, and the simple joy of good food. We’re excited to share that story with you, one flavorful bite at a time.
